Articulating or telescopic, which boom do you need?

An articulating boom bends at the knuckle, so it can go up, over and back in behind an obstruction. That is what you want when the work face is above plant, pipework or structure you cannot move, and it is why articulating machines dominate maintenance and services work. A telescopic boom pushes straight out instead, which buys you far more horizontal reach in a straight line and gets you to a facade or a structure you cannot park underneath. If the obstacle is between you and the work, take the articulating machine. If the distance is the problem, take the telescopic one.

What working heights are available?

Electric articulating booms run from 8.89 m to 13.92 m and are the indoor and finished-surface option, quiet and fume free. Diesel articulating booms cover 10.62 m to 41.15 m, which takes in the tallest machine in the fleet. Diesel telescopic booms run 12.2 m to 38.15 m, with extended-capacity variants through the same band and a tracked telescopic machine at 19.8 m for soft or uneven ground. There is also a bi-energy articulating boom at 18.16 m that runs on battery indoors and diesel outside, which saves swapping machines mid-job.

Can boom lifts be hired for regional and remote sites?

Yes. EWPs go out from our Geebung depot across South East Queensland and regional Queensland, and we supply Sydney and regional New South Wales as well as Perth and surrounds. Tell us the working height, the ground conditions and whether the machine has to work indoors, and we will confirm what suits and when we can get it there. Scissor lifts and telehandlers can go on the same hire.
