Giidjaa Hire hires generators from 6.6 kVA up to 1100 kVA, covering everything from a single site office through to full project power on mining, gas, infrastructure and construction jobs. Hire is long term and dry, and units are delivered to site.

What size generator can you hire?

Sizing starts with the load you actually need to run, not the size of the site. The small end of the range, 6.6 kVA through 20 kVA, suits site offices, lighting, hand tools and small compressors. The mid range from 38.5 kVA to 170 kVA covers workshops, crib huts, pumps and multiple work fronts running at once. Above that, 206 kVA to 1100 kVA is project and prime power territory, where the generator is the site supply rather than a backup. What is the difference between standby and prime rating?

Every unit carries two numbers. The standby rating is the maximum output the generator can deliver in a backup role, running for limited hours when the primary supply drops out. The prime rating is the output it can sustain for unlimited hours as the main power source, and it is always the lower of the two. Size against the prime rating if the generator is running your site day to day. Sizing against the standby number is the most common reason a unit ends up working harder than it should.

Can generators be delivered to site?

Yes. Generators are delivered from our Geebung depot across South East Queensland and out to regional Queensland including the Surat Basin, and we supply Sydney and regional New South Wales along with Perth and surrounds. Tell us the access, the pad and how long you need the unit and we will confirm what we can get there and when. Lighting towers, pumps and distribution gear can go on the same hire and the same account.

How long can you hire a generator for?

Giidjaa Hire is a long-term dry hire business, so generator hire is written for the length of the job rather than by the day. Hire-to-buy is available on selected plant if the unit is going to stay with the project permanently. Servicing is managed across the hire so the unit stays in ticket.
