Mine Spec Vehicle Fitouts

Every Giidjaa Hire vehicle is fitted out to the access standard of the site it is going to, then stickered and delivered ready for induction.

What does a mine spec fitout include?

A mine spec fitout is the safety equipment added to a standard 4x4 so it can be inducted onto a mine site or a gas project. A typical build covers the following.

  • Bullbar and driving lights
  • ROPS (rollover protection)
  • Amber rotating beacon
  • UHF radio
  • High-visibility reflective striping
  • Wheel chocks
  • Fire extinguisher and first-aid kit
  • Battery isolator

That list is the common core rather than the whole answer. Every operator publishes its own access standard, and the differences are real. One site wants particular striping, another wants extra lighting or a set beacon position, another has rules about how gear is stowed or what has to be labelled. Underground work changes the list again. We fit each vehicle to the standard of your site, which is why the first question we ask is where the vehicle is going. The item by item breakdown is in our guide to what mine spec requires.

Can you fit out a whole fleet?

Yes. Where a project takes several vehicles, they are fitted to one common standard so every unit passes induction the same way and the crew finds the same equipment in the same place in each vehicle.

That consistency matters more than it sounds. A fleet built piecemeal produces vehicles that fail access for different reasons on different days, which is a scheduling problem rather than a paperwork one.

Do you fit out vehicles in Western Australia?

Yes. Fitout capability runs on both coasts, so a vehicle destined for a Western Australian site is prepared for that site rather than shipped across and reworked. In Western Australia we service Perth and surrounds.

On the east coast, vehicles are prepared for South East Queensland including Brisbane, Ipswich and Toowoomba, regional Queensland including the Surat Basin gas project areas around Wellcamp, Dalby, Chinchilla, Miles, Roma and Wallumbilla, and for Sydney and regional New South Wales including the central west.

How does it work with hire?

The fitout is part of preparing the vehicle for your hire, not a separate job you book. You tell us the site, the access standard and the term, and the vehicle arrives fitted, stickered and ready for induction, so the first thing your crew does with it is drive it. Servicing and registration are then managed across the hire so dates do not become your problem at the gate.

Specialist configurations are built to order for the hire as well, including fitter trucks with service bodies and tray storage. Hire is long-term dry hire to business clients with a minimum term of three months, and hire-to-buy is available on selected vehicles and plant. See mine spec vehicle hire for the range, or get in touch with your site requirements.
