Specialist Mine Spec Builds
Fire response utes, explosives and dangerous goods utes and other specialist site configurations, built to order on long-term hire.
What specialist builds are available?
Some site roles need more than a standard site ute. Fire response utes are built with firefighting equipment fitted to the vehicle so a crew can respond on site rather than wait. Explosives and dangerous goods utes are configured for cartage to the client licensing and site requirements that apply to the work. Other specialist bodies, including emergency response and paramedic configurations, are quoted on request.
Each build is scoped against what the vehicle has to do on site rather than against a catalogue, because the operator and the task decide the equipment. Tell us the role and the site standard and we will come back with a configuration and a rate.
How does a specialist build work?
Specialist vehicles start from the same 4x4 platforms as the rest of the fleet, the Toyota Hilux, the Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series and the Ford Ranger. From there the build is scoped to the access standard of the site and to the compliance requirements your organisation works to for that role.
Lead time depends on the build, so a specialist configuration is worth raising early in the program rather than in the week the crew mobilises. The underlying safety fitout is the same one every site vehicle carries, described on our fitouts page.

What else can be built to order?
Alongside the specialist roles, the more common built to order configuration is the fitter truck, a service body or tray ute set up for a field maintenance crew, and the single cab flatbed where the load matters more than the cab.
All of them are supplied the same way, fitted and stickered before delivery so the vehicle can be inducted when it arrives instead of sitting at the gate waiting on a fitout.
Where can specialist vehicles be supplied?
From our Geebung depot in Brisbane we cover South East Queensland including Ipswich and Toowoomba, and regional Queensland including the Surat Basin gas project areas around Wellcamp, Dalby, Chinchilla, Miles, Roma and Wallumbilla. In New South Wales we supply Sydney and regional areas including the central west, and in Western Australia we service Perth and surrounds.
Hire is long-term dry hire to business clients with a minimum term of three months, and hire-to-buy is available on selected vehicles. For the standard range see mine spec vehicle hire, or get in touch with the role you need filled.
